Girls and snakes

Besides insects that are often considerred distasteful and not suitable for girls to play with, there is another group of animals that provokes usually negative emotions - snakes.
However, large constrictor snakes, not the venomous ones, often behave friendly to people and are safe also for children. Here I post a selection of girls and snakes in a friendly relationship.

While insects and snakes are mostly considered nasty, mammals are usually treated as cute pets. Most mammals are considered cute, but rodents? Rodents are not pets but pests that deserve death. And most of all rats! These dirty animals transmitting diseasies, damaging food and destroying our constructions must not be handled by little girls.

They may. Domesticated rats are also cute like guinea pigs or small rabbits. They are often smarter. If they are kept at home in clean environment, they stay clean. Contrary to guinea pigs and rabbits, they can climb and they are smaller, so that girls can carry them on their shoulders, below hair. Let us look at girls that have a rat as their best friend.

Girls and spiders

Spiders use to be highly scaring girls and women. But many people keep large tarantulas like home pets in terarium. Even a large tarantula can be friend with little girl.

Somewhere in butterfly pavilion (perhaps in zoo?) they have a tamed large tarantula named Rosie. If a little girl holds Rosie in her hand, she will get a sticky label confirming her courage.

Girls and snails or slugs

Another group of animals that people generally and girls specifically do not like are snails and slugs. It is not they appearance like in many insects and frogs, neither their dangerousness like in spiders. It is the slimy touch. Yet, there are people that let them crawl over their skin, or even over their face.

Most people would run a mile when faced with a slimy snail crawling on them, so imagine 25 sliding over your face. That's what happened to nine-year-old Tiana from Chester.

Unusual food

Some animals can be felt dangerous or disgusting when seen or when touched. However, it is a bigger challenge to eat some unusual animals. At least in many countries in Europe (except France) and North America, only some kinds of sea food is regularly accepted. Many invertebrates or special vertebrates are considered distasteful or too ugly to be tried. In the following video, two Russian girls offer each other various kinds of sea invertebrates (mussels, octopuses, shrimps), land snails and frogs, and comment on how they like them. Enjoy!

In the second video, three children are offered fried mealworm larvae and crickets, while having covered eyes. They, however, recognize, that it is something strange and are frightened by the offer. Gradually they are being convinced that insects are a good meal.

Girls and big dangerous animals

There are several old photographs depicting girls in an association with some big animals that can be very dangerous in certain circumstances. Due to the age of the photographs we believe these are not photoshopped.

Crocodile can bite and because of the great power in its chewing muscles, and the strong teeth, it can easily cut an appendage. However, those muscles that open its mouth are weak and mouth opening can be prevented simply by a rope, tape or leather strap like in this photograph. Note that crocodiles do not crawl with their belly sliding on the ground but they walk!

Wild hungry bear can kill men but tame one is a good friend of the people it knows personally, including small girls. Either in winter:

Many people like hippoes and consider them as friendly animals. Hoever, I feel this picture as the most scaring of all. Hippoes can give a deadly bite by their huge mouth with few but very large teeth. They feel better in water but they can run fastly on the ground.

In Cambodia, big pythons can be found in houses kept like pets and even in the hands of small girls. They often beg for money when making some simple show with these snakes.

In the attached video, you can see how children find and capture large snakes. The rotating them at the end of the video should decrease the snake consciousness so that it is calm and does not bite, strangle or escape.
